Novel · Cover Design, Interior Layout & Visual Identity · 2025
A collection of short stories rooted in self-discovery, fantasy, and spirituality, told with light and humor. The book sits outside any single genre, which shaped every design decision.
Published through Kindle Direct Publishing, it was also launched with a public presentation in Tenerife for which 100 printed copies were ordered.
The author came to the project with a strong visual direction for the cover, rooted in an illustration she had already conceived. The work was in formalising that vision: refining the botanical illustration, developing the teal-to-green gradient, and finding typography that matched the book's particular tone—neither purely literary nor purely commercial, but something of its own.
The typographic system was set in Garamond, with individual treatment for front matter, table of contents, dedication, and part openers. The small botanical illustrations at each part opening echoed the cover and gave the transitions a quiet visual rhythm.
The interior required balancing two very different visual registers. The author had created a series of paintings and line illustrations to accompany the text. Full-page paintings were given space to stand on their own. Line illustrations were placed at the lower half of the page, sitting within the reading flow rather than interrupting it. Colour work was done across the paintings to bring them into visual harmony with each other and with the cover palette, while keeping the intuitive, hand-made quality that gave the book its personality.
